| Active Member | It's so easy to jump on the bandwagon and pick on WGP Autocockers nowadays isn't it? Paintball as a business was way different years ago. Everyone wanted to make the sport better, to appeal to more players, to help it grow. Businesses like WGP, Air Gun Designs, and Palmers laid the foundation for what the sport is now. If it weren't for the people behind WGP and the companies like them, most of us wouldn't be having the fun shooting each other on the weekends the way we do now. Shiny new electronic markers would have never hit the market without the history of the sport that we have now. Go out and enjoy your day of paintball and thank God that people like Mr. Bud Orr, Mr. Tom Kaye, and Mr. Palmer enjoyed paintball enough to build their businesses out of nothing for it.

I feel quite sure that paintball would have matured to where we are now without the "help" of the likes Bud Orr and Smart Parts, but that's just me. Everyone has an opinion and that is mine. D. |

Does this mean you're relenting from your "don't hate Smart Parts for being smart" attitude? I mean, you're feelings toward and about Bud are well-known in these parts, but you've also, in a sense, defended SP on an occasion or two...I'm confused (but most of you already knew that).

| Administrator Join Date: May 2006 Location: Trenchtown | I just threw smart parts and Bud Orr in the same sentence because I know that, regardless of the existing nature of business v. business capitalism, there are paintballers who do not believe that any paintball company should sue any other for patent infringment. Some who feel that way may also be complimentary of Bud Orr's contributions and thus, I am trying to remind folks that if Bud Orr is a "founding member" of the paintball industry, then so is Smart Parts. If Smart Parts is the bane of the paintball industry then so is Bud Orr and for the same reason(s). It is a smeer campaign and the tools are everywhere... |

Something to remember though. Both of the above mentioned companys, have put truck loads of money BACK into paintball, in the form of sponsorships, teams and tourneys. While I dont agree with SP's business practices, it is the way that business is conducted, and they do have a "Right" to protect their interests. Now how can you smeer WGP, when all your going on is "Well so and so, said it happened this way" or to use a magazine article as the basis of your argument. Their have been larger contributions to the sport, other than "Inventing" something. Now I am not trying to take anything away from Palmer's, they make excellent products and are great people. Budd Orr, had an excellent business and while the aftermarket made the "improvements", he did upgrade his factory offerings to use aftermarket add-ons as standard fare because they DID improve his markers. Yes he did go after some companys to protect his business, as would you if you were in the same position. Drum: Why do you want to "Smeer" WGP and Budd Orr? the man has retired and is not involved with paintball, AFAIK. So why do you start going on about how evil Budd Orr is, everytime WGP is mentioned. How about you start a WGP hater thread and keep your "Smeer" campaign in there? Your attempt to further "Smeer" Budd and WGP isnt making new converts, people will believe what they want to believe, so why? Your starting to sound more and more like a bitter old man, with every "Budd Orr is the devil" postings. I think it would be a miracle if you actualy posted on topic and with usefull information, anytime WGP is mentioned. Give it a rest, many of us are thoughly tired of your "Smeer" campaign. How about you take it to PBN, were you would be welcomed with open arms.................. Shane-O "The Anti-Drum"

| Active Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: MO, soon to be MT | Please, What is all the fuss concerning Bud Orr and Smart parts? That they sued companies that infringed their copy rights? It seems that there are some very strong opinions on this web site when it comes to this subject. To correct my ignorance, what are the facts and stories that have led to such animosity? I can't stand the globalization of paintball. Big business and paintball scares the crap out of me! |
