That what standard hopper pack is for..... I went out for Battle of Hue with my pump and 2 pod carrier on the belt....one had 5 10 round tubes in a pod, and the other had a 24 oz bottle of water.

They must have forgotten the Medusa pack and it's predecessor that was out like 2 decades ago. It's Valken though, so I know they're aware of the previous designs. The head of that snake has been around long enough.

Either way, I hope to see it come out. It certainly has a place and if it becomes popular it'll give me bigger, slower targets.
Yeah but Medusa was not a loader, it was a pod replacement pack, you still had to pull your marker out of the battle to reload the hopper.

I too will seperate the product from the video.

Product.

If done right (example the british guys one vid I saw on X7OG) it could fill a specialty nitch in scenerio play. Especially in costumes like halo, starship troopers, predator, and the like.

The downside as I see it is I don't see (at least by the pictures given in the video) of it being well constructed. the plastic looks very cheap, the straps don't seem that confortable or practical and (as others have said) what is the battery like?

Plus even if built right (again the british model) one bad fall leading to a few broken paintballs. Then you have the blendomatic 2000. Given it holds over a case of paint that is one expensive paintball cocktail. Cheap construction would only make it worse.

Then there is the cost of filling the thing.

The last item is the abuse some players would use it for. We already have bonus balling, illegal full auto and ramping on S/A events/fields, uncaring field owners and refs, and general jerk jacks. Now give 1200 hopper, o boy.

Now one practical area I see is for law enforcement peperball guns. Since they use a 68 pre-fragmented light plastic shell this would be perfect for jails, prisons and riot situations.

Now on to the video.

The worst possible thing for paintball.

Ok we all have to admit we have most of the time a shakey reputation with the public at large, mostly due to the pc anti gun/violence world we live in today. Then add the news stories of Jerk jacks who illegally misuse paintball guns on property and people. Along with the videos these num-nutz shoot and sometimes post on you tube.

Also add to it the lingering fear new players have about getting hurt when hit (which have existed since I started playing back in 86).

Now you have a video that starts by showing players that are new (just look at the guns and gravity hoppers) sneaking around. Then some fake explosions followed by a gun firing like a full auto machine gun (not allowed on 99.9% of fields). Then a player (cyborg, whatever) not wearing a mask (basic paintball 101) continually shooting at players after hit. As if this was not bad enough stepping on the facemask of a player on his back. Then if it can't get any worse one going to the hospital.

We got enough true bad press out there that news reporters, parents, goverment (city, county, state) officials (who already don't like us) and use this against us. Now you have this video.

Now add parents who have not played paintball and only have the misc stories going around about it.

Excuse me if they do not see the "marketing schtick" of it.

Overall product has some limited potential, if built right.

The video, with promoters like this who needs enimas.

Looks interesting for the accuracy by volume crowd. Now if they would make it MOLLE compatible they might have something. I just played (on the German side) a D-Day themed game at Battlefront in Hubbard, OH. I went through 1200 rounds (my whole load out) in five minutes defending the beach. If I didn't have to take time to reload I could have shot that in only 2 1/2 minutes. I thought my paint cost were high before.

Honestly, I think its a cool product but for specific things like Tanks and fixed gun positions (think tower defense or a nice machine gun nest).

The video was utter crap though. It screamed "buy this and you too can light up renters!"

Side note, I won a Medusa 700 about 2 years ago but still haven't brought it out to the field.

It uses RC car batteries. There has been response whether it will work with LiPo batteries. Yet.

Then there is the cost of filling the thing. 1200 paintballs isn't a case. I know of plenty of people that buy a case for a day of play. And they aren't hard core shooters. Per se. Last time my fiance played, she got 3/4's of the case that we bought. She shot all of her paint that day, and was shooting her PPS Blazer.

The last item is the abuse some players would use it for. We already have bonus balling, illegal full auto and ramping on S/A events/fields, uncaring field owners and refs, and general jerk jacks. Now give 1200 hopper, o boy.

Funny thing, if something happened to the guy with the backpack, like the line of prisoners broke through to him, and knocked him down. Think about what you mentioned with the normal paintball player having a ball break in the backpack...

I mentioned some things in red to your comments.

The video is marketing hype. I guess we are so biased about having video's that show us the working product and show us how it might work/perform that we forget that not alot of people are as "technical" as we are. It's marketing hype. Whatever they can do to sell their product. Get the kid interested in it, so they can sell to him. Or the young adult. Or the overzealous 20 something. Or the scenario player. Yes, I agree, the cyborg without the mask is disconcerting, but at least there is plenty of warnings to always wear a mask when playing.
