I am trying to acquire one of these for a demo. I really like the price point since I am not a believer in spending an obscene amount of money on a paintball gun.

No offence but unless it really really REALLY has something new, updated, astounding to offer it is just another cheap, disposible electro chunker.

We already have ions, mini, proto's, axe, and a few more I have forgotten already on the market.

This is needed like bath floats on a camel.

The axe is a reliable solid marker. Cant speak for the rest but it is a nice shooter. Not to pull the car but thats why some pro teams use them. Just saying.

The counter argument is that paintball is a luxury sport... This product was brought to the market because Valken wanted to offer it, and it may be viable if people want something different than what's currently available. "Need" has little influence on the equation.

Everything has been pretty much superfluous since automags. But obviously we keep buying the crap... A better phrase would be "These are needed about as much as brass paintball guns."

True indeed. Nothing wrong with options, even if those options offer little in the way of innovation. Same reason there's hundreds of different cars on the road, when we could all be driving identical machines around.

Wait, you actually bought one of those?

It looks great to me. I like the design of the Aura, but the cosmetics didn't really stand out. I don't like the giant "valken" on the fore grip though.

I think more companies should start doing what planet eclipse did with the ego: not coming out with a new one until they can actually make it better. I think the article said something like why make a new $1000+ gun thats exactly the same as the old $1000+ gun? If a gun isnt either better or cheaper than its competition, why make it?

I agree exactly with what you said.

What I was trying to get across is if this is no better in any way than the other guns I listed then why would I go out and buy it if I had one of those other ones.

Or why would I choose a "new" gun if the other ones are already out there. With their already established spare parts, after market parts, support boards/groups, and established company support.

As for the car anology others have used has anyone noticed that even there most of them now look alike and have about the same options?

Lastly, what I am saying is why do we need another "clone" of what is already out there? If you want one just because its the "newest" all the power to you.

But for me if they expect me to drop whatever it costs (especially in this economy) I want something truly inovative or improved.

Otherwise I'll just go to the good old B/S/T and get the same type for a heck of a lot less.

If that makes me weird, old fashion, or stuck in the past...so be it.
