After reading about how this thing works, I'm completely blown away. Bob Longs guys really did something cool with this gun to avoid any issues with Dyes patent. And by doing that, they increased efficiency and cycle time. ThisisPaintball.ca, please post back with your opinion on how it shoots and feels! I would like to hear an unbiased opinion.

Still rather shocked with the design myself. As usual marker is super light even with an 88 tank on it and the biggest issue thus far is having to lube it between matches. Which I would attribute to playing on a beach which isn't your typical environment since sand gets into everything here over the run of the day.

Will talk with Bob to see if one can be loaned out to shoot a feedback/performance third party video to show outside of the company and of any vested interest (with regards to the sales/marketing of this new platform).

Stupid "free" wi-fi had a nice long well written summary and it goes and has to reconnect so I lost everything. Will post a full summary of it's use once back on an actual computer and not typing from a mobile device after sleeping on airport floors.

Short reply on the shocking design is just how simple it is. In a sport where most of us players are lucky to be smart enough to put the correct shoes on our left and right feet this bolt system is simple enough that a monkey could be taught to remove the bolt, clean it and re-lube it and start playing again.

Also sadly no marker to do a video of and since there was very little down time and no properly lighting kit with me it will have to wait until the team markers are in I guess. Stupidly left it for Sunday to chat with Bob about media stuff but glad that they sold all of the units they had at the event. Really jealous of some of the splash/fades that some lucky SOB(s) picked up.

Sounds like it could be the rival to the Quest for simplicity in maintenance then.

I think the coolest thing about the design is what it does with the air source when firing. Dye's patent included the air source being 100% cut off during firing. So Blast only cut off 80% of the air and re-routed the other 20% to forcing the bolt back. This means the bolt only stayed forward for a very shot time before being forced back and ready for another cycle. That's also what makes the gun soooo efficient. The bolt goes back so fast that it traps extra air left in the dump chamber after the ball is already down the barrel, saving it for the next shot. However, I don't know if Dyes patent is still valid. Some say they didn't renew it, but I also heard that people from Dye talked to Bob Long at PBE about the possible patent issue the Insight might have with them.

Autocockers..........high noon.

How Ironmen solve their problems.

Well, aside from that whole "let's go to court to see who the REAL Ironmen are" nonsense.
