Sometimes I really don't get what goes through their development team's heads.

It isn't a clamshell, comes apart like a 98, Page 19 of manual

I think when people refer to a "clamshell" disassembly pattern for a paintball gun they are talking about something that comes apart like an M98: two identical halves that bolt together.

Something like the FT-12 or BT-Slice usually goes by "flip-top" or "break-open" disassembly, even though yes, the parts there are hinged like a clam.

Yep, exactly my thoughts...ft12 flip top...98's clamshell..

It's cool to see a 98 platform sell so cheap new, and without an exposed airline to boot. It's something I'm sure the youngin's running around at Dick's will get to oogling over.

I can't get passed the name though. Cronus?!? Sound very Stargate to me; not very MilSimmy at all. They should have stuck with a letter designation and left it at that.

Cronus?!?
Let's GOG it up a bit: cRONuS.
Nope, that didn't help.

Was anyone else hoping this would be a mech only Crossover to compete with the eNMEy when they clicked this thread?

Anyway its nice to see Tippmann's price on blowbakcs continue to drop.

The clamshell design is a frequent complaint about the 98. For me, it was a great first gun because--among other benefits--I could see all the parts in position on the gun and really understand how the whole mechanism works. Sure, it's a royal pain to service a rental-fleet worth, so on that note the FT-12 was a nice innovation (if a little ugly).

Tippmann has just drifted outside the scope of my interests over the years, sadly. I like that their pre-A5 guns had a vaguely firearm-ish feel to them, but it was incidental to the fact that they were made of quality metal and build to last. Lately they've been trying to make purposeful mil-sim markers, but they just seem like toys to me.

I just don't like fakeness, products designed to look like something else. It's a paintball marker, not a Desert Storm assault rifle. YMMV
