Im going to go out on a limb and say thats how Craig might have started them up, unless he has a laser in shop now.

I'm printing a batch in PLA now. We will see what testing results in but I'm going to say offhand that I don't see them lasting long.

You can see that #1 wasn't the best quality, I think I had some seepage from my extruder (insert Mar joke). #2 and then the multi print #3 were done at a slower speed and look better although there is still some post processing needed, see 3a and 3c. Ill throw them in a gun shortly and see how many cycles they can handle.

And for what it's worth, I don't mean to derail this thread. I will be ordering a few sets of the real retainers with my next Palmer's order.

i see issue with this things. if not make up something that durable. they will break over time and not last long. so if somewhere to make something that would last long what type of metal or other material is need to make last long time. i see issue of three prong will start to break from bending back and forth over time or getting bent to one size and not wanting to bend back for small size need. so how does one make one where not break from get bent back and forth to many time. but be able to bend back down to small size then to bigger size without causing to break from being bent back and forth to much.

Brilliant concept. The price is brutal, though.

I doubt that's an issue. The fingers probably stay in the forward position and it doesn't matter too much. The ball will deform ever so slightly and it will hold a variety of bore sizes like regular wedgits. That's just an educated guess.

can the fingers even bend to fit into the barrel without breaking off entirely?
