Stabilizer issues.

my stabilizer isn't regulating anymore. i tried to take it apart according to this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmDUM0eT0B4

but my reg doesn't have a slot in the bottom cap where the video says to use a nickel to remove it, so how am i supposed to take this apart to fix it? i'd really rather not have to resort to a dremel :/

Find a cap head allen bolt and nut with the same thread. Remove set screw, thread in allen bolt with nut. Tighten nut against bottom cap. Then use allen bolt to unscrew bottom cap.

^^^^,

That is the way to remove the bottom cap. once rmoved you can cut "dremmel" a channel for a nickle or quarter to fit and facilitated future maintenance.
On the video at 0:35 Sec, the small seal is probably the cause for the reg to creep, so just flip it around, give it a good internal clean up and make sure that there is no any old teflon tape or debris blocking any of the air passages, and see if that works,

Palmers sell the rebuilt kits $ 5.00, shipping is something different and higher...

If that does not work, please send me a PM, I do have couple small flat seals around...

Hope this helps

Gabe

it's a fun process...lol.

i ran into one a couple weeks ago that was on so tight i had to get a lock washer for the nut to get it to come loose...

not to highjack the thread but I have the same issue and I want to understand fully

am I thinking right? tighten the nut against the bottom plate super tight then attempt to remove the bolt and the bottom cap should come off?

i just had to do this on a repair the other night, i'll attempt to take pics of how i did it when i get home and post them up...but essentially you're correct though i use a set screw instead of one with a bolt head on it.
