Point and shoot suggestions?

I am looking to pick up a decent point and shoot for some trips I am taking this year. I would love to get myself into a DSLR at some point but for now I just need something simple and compact with a decent picture quality. I am going to be touring around cities and going camping/hiking and I don't want the bulk.

I have used the Sony Cybershot WX150 at work (inspections of industrial sites, very impressed with quality and low-light abilities) but I don't want to narrow my options only to Sony. I don't mind picking up last year's model if it saves some coin.

Thanks!

I really enjoyed my Canon PowerShot SD 1100. I'm not sure what the current model equivalent is, but the pics I took always turned out good on shutterfly or printed from a home printer. Just checked the Canon site, not sure about your budget but their new S110 looks really nice. Even shoots 1080 video.

Canon S110 at a minimum.
Sony RX100 if you can swing it.

Get one with HDR feature. The reason is because you will get nice photos with any point and shoot in good lighting conditions.

HDR makes up for those tricky lighting.

We bought 2 camera at the same time a Casio ZR100 and a Sony Cybershot. My wife's Sony pretty much has not been used in ages.

Here are a few example of HDR(Back lit but you want the details on the front)
I didn't have to photoshop any of pictures as it was all done for me in the Camera

Any suggestions of a decent point and shoot with HDR?

I have used the HDR function on my iPhone (har har har), so I do appreciate its capabilities.

HAHAH IPHONE HDR. That works similarly only with video not really "photos".

Yeah, the premise is there, but not the execution. It doesn't help so much as provide something different.
