It seems like they are pulling SP tactics.

I think I have a pair of military suspenders that would do the same thing. I think these are them: eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

I was just looking at getting the rs7

I love my Black Rapid. I've had it for about two years now. Works great, not sure how I feel about them as a company now, but I know I'll keep using the strap...

Isn't scary. The similarities...

Steed 04-25-2012 11:25 AM

Don't really see the similarities, yes they bought an old patent that they based their product off of but they're not sending threats to Nikon and Cannon for including straps with their cameras...

Thanks for reminding me to get a strap ordered, broke down and ordered a Luma.

Defending IP to which you own the rights is not evil. Its good business and should be encouraged. Furthermore SP wasnt reviled because of the defense of their purchased patent. It was because the preposterous expansion of the patent's terms.

That's the gist of it, as well as their obvious disregard for providing prior art in their "revisions" which there's no way they could hope to claim ignorance of. Especially considering they worked hand in hand with many of the companies who marketed such prior items.

Their shady practices used to game the patent system is what gave them their negative reputation.
