Anyone know anything about the Contour camera?

I have a question about the Contour Roam. They changed the label from water resistant to water proof to one meter (3 feet), and I was wondering about what people think about that. I'd like a POV camera for stuff like mountaineering (Which I have to say, doesn't sound cool in POV, but it is.) Skiing, and biking, but I would also like to use it for stuff like waterskiing.

It's not worth the cash to buy the water case for it in my mind, if it has to be that way I just won't bother, and I don't want a gopro.
Edit-It looks like the case is only $50 or so, which changes things.

Why do you not want a go pro? Hero2's are awesome

I don't like the idea of looking like a tellytubby whenever I want video.

The contour is a great camera for POV footage and a low-profile. I use a ROAM for paintball and it had withstood everything that's been thrown at it. The only problem I have is with the durability of the rotating flat mounts. I've been through two of them already due to being quite brittle and breaking after a few months of use; this wouldn't be an issue if they weren't $15 each. i use my contour for paintball and it has worked awsome. several hits and it still works fine. i also use it for riding my duel sport trail riding and it has been knocked off my helmet several time and is still working. i got the contour for the reason that it was low profile easy for me to charge and multiple mounting options.my youtube channel is "thenetranger776" if you want to see my footage. i currently going to mount it on my mountain bike and see how it hold up to that. the only thing i didn't like about it was the wind noise and higher speeds.

Try a different mount on the go pro than the top of your head. Hero2's are 11mp

Direct hits? I am kind of scared having mine hit directly, so I keep it in the scuba mount for paintball.

I use mine for paintball but mostly scuba diving. I use the underwater case, and based on the price, it is a great deal for an enclosure. As for mounts, they have great customer support. I just snapped off my flex mount messing around with it the other day, took a pic, called customer support, and they are sending me a new one.

I have the contour roam. I have used it for pistol shooting, tough mudder, and paintball.

There's no need for a water case, it's waterproof to xxx amount. Just don't lose it in deep water.
