That isn't an Intel board anyways. I like AOpen boards, but they are discontinued I believe. I still have one running though :P

BTW, I hate when people call me a nerd threadstarter.
That is an Itel chip set on the board and they are finicky. Intel processors are great for certain applications and AMD processors are great for certain applications. AMD processors give you more bang for the buck if you are running a gaming machine (it is a chip architecture thing). Also, Intel chips tend to run hotter under stress.

Just trying to help the dude out.

Sorry to start this...but are you kidding?

AMD has more bang for the buck?

Intel PWNS AMD in anything. Faster speeds, better clocks, more processors, more popular, better gaming support, better boards and RAM, just better over all. It doesn't matter really for applications...I guess it could but that would be odd......

Well, Vista is a good OS. It is getting better and better, especially with the new service pack coming out. Games should run fine on it, if that is your question.

Discount Computer Memory Upgrades from 4 All Memory

That should tell you your RAM type. There are def. other ways, but I am too tired to remember them right now :P

If you by a new laptop from anyone the most you may need for those applications is a dvd/wr at best. That will tell you how modern the system is. Try newegg, tigerdirect, or dell and find the best price. Most people buy something that is overkill for what they really need.

What software is necessary for the wiring diagrams if I may ask?

Feel free to pm me for my opinion if you would like.

Do you know how speed is calculated, what a clock is, what makes a better board, what ram only fits in an Intel board?

Love to hear your input.

CPU speed is generally calculated by a bus speed and a multiplier. Multiply these together and you get the actual speed the CPU runs at. The bus speed is typically the speed that other components (such as the memory) in a system run at. You overclock your CPU by increasing on or the other or both. Bus speed tends to have the best effect so if possible people will lower the multiplier to allow them to get a higher bus speed.

DDR/PC---- ram fits in Intel motherboards.
