Yup, at LAN's we always bust it out.

Darkplaces + HD remastering packs - QuakeOne - Quake 1 Resurrection
Rygel's 'Ultra' hi-res texture pack - found a good download link - QuakeOne - Quake 1 Resurrection

Plus all the usuals (ie. TF, zoid's CTF, etc.). FuhQuake and zQuake seemed to be discontinued.
We sometimes switch over to Deathmatch Classic as all the newer players have been corrupted by BF3/MoH/etc. and complain that original Quake is "too fast to possibly play." Heh.

I can't even remember the last time I even played Quake online. I will have to see if I can dig it out, I know I have Quake II here somewhere a bit more accessible since I have played that in the last few years.
Everyone says "Well maybe i'll make a difference",
Thinking they've got plenty of time
But you're squeezed a little tighter everyday
Finished before you can commit a crime

Yeah, there is a following for UT. The joy of Quake is that since it was open-sourced, anybody can compile it and play for free. Set your server to allow download of maps and away you go. What with all the custom maps/textures/etc. you don't even need to worry about the copyrighted stuff.
