Need some info about stolen gear

On Friday I was jumped and had my camera bag stolen

7D gripped, 24-105mm L, 70-200mm L f/4, 35mm lens baby, canon 430ex II
and my ipad

Now I have turned my ipad on locked mode from my computer using "Find my phone" feature but the only issue is that it's the wifi version and needs an internet connection for the feature to work.....
I have already gave the serial numbers to the police, for every thing but the body since I bought it off CL.
I have called my insurance agent and she is checking to see if its covered under renters insurance, she says its definitely covered under house owners insurance.

Now my question is:
In the EXIF data can some how find the serial number, I would try it now but I dont have any photos on my work computer.

glanced at some photos I've taken with my 7D, and the details on a basic viewer show a field for "Camera serial number", but it appears blank. I don't have a dedicated EXIF viewer installed on this computer, so maybe there is more data to be had.

However, I will be sure to sit down and record all my info tonight and get it sorted in one place. I have most of it recorded, but it is scattered and not well filed.

You could try this. Stolen Camera Finder - find your photos, find your camera

I have never used it, but have heard people talk about it.

Ya Wifi version, needs internet connection
plus he needs to get into my password but if he does he will see he needs a new password that I just set and it will then send a GPS screen capture to my computer and phone

Used this tool: ExifTool by Phil Harvey
And was able to pull my hardware serial number from a random CR2 file I had on the drive, which matches that on my camera.

Likely want the windows zip off that page. Put the tool in a folder with the image you want to test, rename the tool to remove the (-k) from the name. Run a command line, navigate to the folder, and use

exiftool.exe "File name" >> dumpfile.txt

It will toss the whole data output into a text file for easier reading. ctr+f "Serial Number" a few times till you get to the one that is just Serial Number. I see a Lens and internal serial number before the listed hardware one in the files I tested.

Well if they say it's covered and you can bring in estimates for replacement I don't see how they can screw you over. Best way to go about it is to look around and find the best deals so that you can get re setup and if they have to pay out less to cover the loss then they'll be more likely to not kick up a fuss about it. With that said my aunt used to work in the industry I can ask her if you like and I'm in Canada too so what she could tell me would be applicable to your situation rather than a guess
