Sad Day for Geeks.

Well I just watched the last episodes of XPlay and Attack of the Show. Now I am kind of depressed. I mean really Scifi became syfy and with the exception of a couple of scifi type shows has gone mostly paranormal and drek. G4 has been going down hill the last couple of years with less and less geek/nerd/gamer content and more nutshot/ ninja warrior type content.

Whats a geek to do?

direct not carrying g4 anymore had to hurt them. i really enjoyed xplay even though sessler(sp?) kind of got on my nerves. i suppose it's about like if there were a paintball series. even if it wasn't great it would still be cool.

other main issue was with parent company. it was having issue last year and this year. so they have pic and choice what they wanted. NBCUniversal was having issue last year over how to hand whole company when deal with there comcast came up on who should own majority of the company. so it was up to NBCUniversal with Vivendi and ge to pick and choice how to handle that channel. with nbc owing syfy too had to take look at if was worth saving channel with lost of direct tv not having them on too.

I started watching when it was called the Screen Savers with Kevin Rose. I was lucky enough to attend the taping of the first Los Angeles based episode, which aired on September 7, 2004. It was followed by a taping of a show called "Unscrewed with Martin Sargent." Stan Lee was one of the live guests.

Screen Savers/Attack of the Show and X Play were the main reasons I watched G4.tv.

Well, before it was the Screen Savers with Kevin Rose it was actually the Screen Savers with Leo Laporte and some other dude that I can't remember. It was before the TechTV channel got bought out in the US by G4. TechTV continued a while longer in Canada.

I miss TechTV. I first started watching when it was hosted by Leo Laporte. And the show was Call for Help. Like the man said, What's a geek to do?

Pff. Code monkeys never get love. They're code monkeys, and therefore aren't suppose to need or deserve love.

That was Patrick Norton. And TechTV was MUCH better than G4, but they didn't have enough programming to warrant a channel. I would like to see some of the TechTV programming come back on a channel like SyFy, Discovery, or even SpikeTV. Shows like "The Screen Savers", "Call for Help", "X-play", and "Eye Drops" could replace a lot of the infomercials and reruns from 1984 that they seem to play ad nauseum.
