Tippmann Mod. 68 Special

SOLD to Captain

Not extremely rare, but still a collector's item.
The marker is in great condition. I changed all the o-rings I could find, fired a couple balls through it to make sure it works. It's heavy, you can probably use it as a shovel to dig your opponents' graves, or as a cudgel if you ever run out of paint or air. Not a rental gun.

Included in the package is the marker itself, original barrel, a aluminum feedneck adapter, squeegee, extra hammer spring and two SIPHON tanks. Everything will go in the original box and I'll wrap it and ship it in another box.

Unlike most markers, the 68 special runs best on siphoned CO2 tanks, not the usual anti-siphoned tanks you see today. One of the two included tanks still has some CO2 left, so if you're into the hipster vintage stuff, this is a great deal...CO2 from 1990 (born dates on the tanks). The tanks are 7oz. each, so no need to have them tested, though I'm not sure if you can legally use them since they're so old. I dry fired it on compressed air but the blowback seems to cause a lot of hammer bounce, so I got 5 to 7 round burst with each trigger pull (haven't tried shooting paintballs with CA though).

Just so you know, I think it's illegal to ship a canister with CO2 in it. I think you must first empty it anyways. Could be wrong, but I'd check. If so, might as well test it on the CO2 that's available...

Nice gun, btw, it has me thinking about it, that's for sure.

[Curiosity on]

Wouldn't it run fine with a low pressure air source?
Like a tank with inline regulator at 150 psi?
A 12g CO2 output is ~110 PSI, so I guess it might work...

[/curiosity]

Free up for a gun I'd love to have (too bad I'm short on $$)!

Correction:
A twelvie contains liquid CO2 at 55bar, which is around 798 psi in standard conditions (I've botched my conversion ).
No need for a regulator, then.

You are correct but,if he ships ups ground he should be fine. They don't want the co2 tanks while filled up in a plane because they fear it might explode from pressure change.

Very nice marker. I've always wanted a .68 special, they remind me of a WW2 gun or something of that sort.

No.

A 12gram output os the same as any CO2, 850ish, dependent on tempurature.

Yah, it feels much closer to a real gun than other markers. I didn't weigh the hammer when I took it out to clean it, but you could definitely lift weights with that thing.

I've read that the valve on the 68 Special works best with liquid (siphoned) CO2, and you also get the vapor coming out the barrel for looks as well.

People have hooked up Q-loaders to this thing and it's worked well for them. I've always felt the feedneck was too big, so I almost lopped it off and was about to install a warp feed, but then I realized you really can't do anything like that to a marker like this...

Correct. The volume of the valve is tiny, so it need the extra potential energy of Liquid CO2 to get velocity. The plus side is amazing consistency and no shootdown. Down side is efficiency and the fact siphon tanks are becoming forgotten technology.

back to your sale.. Very cool piece. These things are fun as hell!!
