redux 18 test

Well I was bored so I tried to get some info about my redux's efficiency here is the data:

71*F, overcast/humid
Polished guts (everything from the powertube to the snub)
Green main out of a eBay cocker spring kit, and a mystery valve spring from a friend (all I know is it is heavy)
Standard redux, no extended barrel
Shooting nelson anarchy sized at .683 +- .002 from a brass Ty .675 insert

1) 293. 11) 286. 21) 275. 31) 281. 41) 244
2) 278. 12) 278. 22) 274. 32) 279. 42) 227
3) 286. 13) 279. 23) 276. 33) 279. 43) 218
4) 277. 14) 278. 24) 281. 34) 276. 44) 204
5) 284. 15) 281. 25) 278. 35) 271. 45) 181
6) 276. 16) 270. 26) 275. 36) 264. 46) 152
7) 276. 17) 281. 27) 272. 37) 269. 47) 130
8) 284. 18) 281. 28) 274. 38) 275. 48) DEAD!!!!!
9) 276. 19) 274. 29) 265. 39) 259
10) 284. 20) 274. 30) 279. 40) 245.

So from what I can tell I can get over forty usable shots (any shot above 230), maybe fifty if it is on the low 80's out side with a lower average velocity for the first 3 tubes. If my FPS never hits over 280 I think fifty shots is doable, with a usable field count of 35 to 40 playable shots.

yeah it would be interesting to see what could be done starting out around 265

I know when I had it between 255 to 275 I got to shot 54 and then it went dead, my only issue with that setup was a 20 FPS swing is not so hot. I like how my new setup is rock solid for the first 35 or so, I cant stand wild velocity swings. If I could do 275 +- 5 that would be sweet!

Problem with starting around 265 is that you'll quickly bump into the 240s. Better to start on the high edge and sacrifice a few shots to make sure you have good playing velocity through the whole cartridge. I'd rather have 30 good shots than 50 dribblers. I only consider shots over 250 fps to be "good," for what it's worth.

Soooooooooooooooooooooo true! this works for me- I try to use a .682 freak with .685-.686 paint (ultra evil) I am geting 33-37 shots at 280....

haha, I couldn't get rid of my Eigenbarrel fast enough...I've found that underboring magnifies issues with mediocre paint.
