1st Infantry Division

If you know your history then you know that
back in WW II the 1st Infantry Division took
part in the D-Day Invasion. They landed on
Omaha Beach and suffered heavy casualties.

At the Oklahoma D-Day Event players who
belong to the 1st Infantry Division also face
a significant challenge. They land via boat
at the bottom of a steep hill which is capped
by rows of trenches and concrete bunkers,
much like the real Omaha Beach was. Aided
by Rangers and the 238th Engineers, who've
first got to clear the way before the rest can
make their assault, this aspect of the event
represents some of the toughest play you
will ever find. Are you up for the push to
the top? If so, then the 1st Infantry.

Brian Cassell, with the 1st Infantry Division
put together this clip to help raise awareness
about both The Oklahoma D-Day Event as well
his own unit, the 1st Infantry Division.

Come and see if you've got what it takes to
make it to the top with Brian.

do you have what it takes? - YouTube

Do you like to sling paint? Do you like the thrill of facing nearly overwhelming odds? Do you enjoy CQB (Close Quarters Battle)? Would you like to be a part of the largest international paintball scenario team in the world?

Then come join the CEF at OK D-Day. The CEF is looking for troops, that aren’t afraid of a little paint in the face. The British 3rd Infantry Division, with support from the 13th/18th Royal Hussar tanks and the Royal Air Force fighters, will assault Sword Beach from their landing craft, then go on to liberate the city of Caen. Meanwhile, the British 6th AB will be in a desperate fight to secure Pegasus Bridge.

We have openings in all eight of the CEF units and you’ll be playing beside some of the best scenario paintball players from around the world. This is an experience of a lifetime and the CEF would like to help you enjoy it to the fullest.

All CEF uniform and clothing items are now taking preorders, so avoid the rush and get yours in now. The cutoff date for delivery to OK D-Day is May 5. Check us out at www.cefpaintball.com and take a look in the PX section.

Cheers

327th GIR

While this clip was originally intended to help
draw new members to the 327th GIR back in
2011, it's not outdated by any means. If you
want to be a part of the point of the spear,
you can't find a better group than the 327th
Glider Infantry Regiment. The 327th is just
one of several elements which make up the
101st Airborne Division.

D-Day Park Update

From time to time Dewayne, the guy who
runs D-Day, posts video updates in order
to let everyone know how what's going
out there in Wyandotte, Oklahoma.

Here is his latest update, during which
he announces a contest that might just
be of interest to some players on both
sides.

Here's Where We're at Oklahoma D-DAY Static Display Contest 2013 - YouTube

Anyone with questions, either about this or
anything else related to D-Day can write or
call me, or the Bunker.

The Bunker just released the revised schedule for
D-Day 2013. Check it out, or better still make a
copy so you don't miss anything.

Dday 2013

Here's a couple recent helicopter overflight clips to try
and give you some sense of how large this field really is.
The camping area is roughly 100 acres by itself, the vendor
area, which has a number of stand alone buildings, including
a cafe probably covers 4-5 more acres and as you'll see
the rest is a mixture of woods and wooded ravines and more
open areas. There's also a real bridge, several dozen mostly
one story 'battle damaged' structures, plus a 2 story church
and dozens and dozens of various types of bunkers.

NOTE: Helicopter offers rides typically lasting about 5-7
minutes long for 20-25 bucks per seat. Holds 3 paying
passengers and pilot.

The following clips were all produced by various units, as their
way of helping to generate unit recruiting.

stuff

Ok, you've already been warned about the heat, humidity and bugs,
so that just leaves where you're planning to stay? If you bring a tent,
make sure you bring some extra heavy duty tent stakes to secure it
and if you've got a small generator, remember you can only run it
till 10 pm. Pop Ups are not built to stand up to strong winds, so
remember to take them down if a storm is approaching.

When it comes to staying clean, there are two shower buildings, but
with so many people the odds of finding any hot water are slim.

There are also plenty of well marked places to dump your trash, so
please don't just toss it. Remember, this is home for many of us for
a week or more, so if you see trash, please pick it up.

This year they've also said no more fire rings made from field stones,
so if you're looking to have a camp fire, bring a metal fire ring, or cut
down a 55 gallon drum and as far as firewood goes, there's plenty
of dead fall around in the surrounding woods, plus they usually have
someone driving around selling fire wood, so no cutting live trees.

Everyone is responsible for their own stuff and generally you'll find
people camping with you trustworthy, but that doesn't mean you can
just leave your I Pad, wallet, camera and other valuables laying about.
Lock them up in your car, or ask a buddy to secure it in theirs if you
don't have a vehicle.

Finally, just about everyone I know forgets something, that's why
they have a small store next to the D-Day Café which sells stuff.
There's a nice IGA grocery store nearby in Seneca, as well as a
Super Walmart, Lowes and a couple motels in Neosho, which is
about 20 minutes drive to the east. There's also a Dairy Queen
and a mom and pop ice cream shop in Seneca, as well as a bank,
Laundromat and auto parts store and if you want to gamble there's
the new casino right across from where you turn off Hwy 60
