I think i may just port everything.... Custom KP2 Resto-Mod

I have been wanting to get back to some projects for a while now, a long while. In spirit of how i do things, before finishing anything i have already started, i bought another project. I did a KP a while back, with a custom undercocking kit and some custom brass parts. I have always loved the look and style of the KP rifles.

The barrel on this KP2 was salvageable but it was a little scarred up from a classic DIY copper DF feed mod. I have been wanting to rebarrel a Sheridan for years, have some projects but they are in drawers in pieces. This one will get finished before summer.

I made a ported barrel from Sheridan barrel stock from our own tymcneer a while ago. It proved to shoot quite nicely on my S6.5 so i am doing the same porting on this barrel. I thought about doing a cocker threaded top tube but i think i am going to do the classic and sleek soldered Sheridan look. I just decided to port everything.

I still need to do a lot of work but here are some teaser pics of the barrel and feedtube all ported up. I figure the ported feedtube will add 30hp. I have a custom pirate stock coming from WALZ. I am debating on doing a dropout on this but i dont know if i want to loose that much brass. I will likely be porting the lower tube where it will not be hidden by the stocks. I still have the full stock for this too, i didnt want to hack it up and luckily Walz had a nice pirate handy.

Not gonna do a lever. I am torn between normal pump or bolt action.

or one of the double pump handles...one for pumping and one for changing co2...like the old fox hunters.

Looks like a lot of work done already. Nice porting; was that done on a mill?

Oh, ok, i have thought about a lever changer for the Co2 but havent looked into options yet. Is there any available that are relatively non invasive installs? I would like to be able to still use the traditional style plunger too, i dont want to hack up the bottom tube too much. I am not 100% up to speed on Sheridan mods, it has been a few years since i immersed myself in the world of brass.

I did the porting on a CNC Lathe with live tooling and an indicating chuck. I had to do it in 3 sections because the live centers on the machines i run doesnt get used ever and it needed to be serviced and cleaned so i didnt mess with it. It was tricky getting the countersinks to be relatively even because the tubing has some runoff so each row had to be tweaked separately depth wise. It took me a long time to get it to look nice and clean. Thanks for the compliments guys, i appreciate them. Hopefully the rest will also impress.

The feedtube, in all, took me about 7 hrs of work so far. Lots of adjusting and rerunning the holes to get countersinks matched up close.
