P68AT Restoration/Build

Just got a P68AT the other day for $40. Probably paid more than I should (you'll see) but got it for half of what the seller originally wanted. Once you see the pictures you'll see the restore part of the thread, the mod part will come as I figure out what I want to do. A couple things I'd like to do is add detents, wedgits, rva, and front virt CA. Now for y'all's help, I need to know if theses are possible and links to DIY's if there are any. Now for pics!

I would add pictures of the whole gun with all the parts, but I was too excited to tear into this project. Ive restored 2 PGP's already so I have some experience restoring sheridans.

I will note this on your resume... *scribbles some nonsense*

You probably want to sand all that rust off, unless you're into a *rustic* look lololo

don't know of any how to's for those things.but here's my advice.

Detents-dont really need them but a simple one to copy is the wire/ball PPS
style.cocker style you need extra brass soldered on the side of barrel.

Wedgits-simple ones can be made by 3 drops of finger nail polish.
to do a PPS style you'd need a special fixture.

RVA- with the back bottle?you drill and tap the ASA.if you you can't do it
a few people around here can for a fair price, just ask..

Vert ASA-I'd say try the back bottle first, they feel great. IMO.
it's not going to be simple/cheap to change your set up.

I'd also suggest to use FINE steel wool or scotch brite pads to clean the parts
and just replace the o-rings and try the gun out set up like it is,the RVA is a 'must have' mod though.

What he said....

except there is an odd alternative to velocity adjust....Palmers used to make a velocity adjust hammer. Basically it's a hammer that's been drilled and tapped for a small allen screw that is accessible from the slot on the drivers side where your bolt would spin out. Inside the hammer is a ball bearing. When you screw the allen screw in, it pushes the bearing back and increases velocity by increasing tension on the main spring. You might find one if you post a WTB ad....if you need pictures, I can get them to you.

Other than restoring it in stuck at this point. I'll do the fingernail polish wedgits but I'm still deciding on detents. I'm completely lost when it comes to the RVA and vert ASA. To do the RVA I have to have the vert ASA. I'd probably be better off getting a P68SC and going from there but we'll see. So for now it's back to restoration.

The PPS style detents are not all that hard to pull off. You could make what you need from an old sheridan bolt and make a punch from almost anything. I do my own but i made a special jig but its not necessary. The nail polish is easiest tho.

If you convert it to vertical air you can put a regular RVA on it, they are easy to find.
Converting it to vertical will require some work.

need inspiration? here's your thread:

PBG3's P.o.P. build........

paintball guy 3 did an excellent job with this one, if you must do a vert air his method (pipe forward instead of pipe rear) looks like a neat & tidy way to do it.
