| dingged brass working on a pgp project. Noticed I got a ding in the tube that holds the balls. The paintballs still roll nicely but it's something that I would like to fix. Any ideas how to un ding the dent ?

| If you’ve got the money you could use a Hydraulic Dent Raiser , but at nearly $400, unless you plan on removing a lot of dents, it’s probably not a viable option. Do you plan on leaving it brass, or are you going to blacken it? If your just going to blacken (paint) it you could take a hone and polish out the inside, then use a bit of solder to fill in the dent and sand it down flush. Or you could put counting slots in it and cut the ding out… Do you follow me or something? |

| im actually polishing her up right now I got most of the dent out but it's noticible if u look right at it. Otherwise it's okay. It just and anal thing I guess. The dent is on top too so cutting a hole out of the side wouldnt work well.

| …you could take a steel rod as close to the ID of the tube as possible and long enough that it will run through the length of the tube and still have enough leftover to be securely chucked in a vise. Clamp the rod into a vise good and tight, slide the tube over the rod with the dent up, take a plastic mallet and tap on the dent. If that doesn’t quite get it you could take the rod to a grinder and grind one side down a bit (about 1/16 to 1/8 should be fine) all but a little hill were the dent would be and use that hill as an anvil to drive the dent out. Brass is a rather soft metal, you’ll want to be careful when banging on it. Last edited by TheJudge; 07-03-2008 at 01:18 PM. Reason: Spelling Error |
