Ok so I got a few cooper-t bolts from a member here (one PGP and one p-series) and they were very stiff with the ball bearing release. (I have no idea what the part is called. (Someone can enlighten me.) They were both stiff so I took them apart. I punched the one roll pin out and took out the Ball Bearing release. There was an o-ring on it that looked to either be swollen or over sized. This made it chunk off in spots and slow it down. Well me with my lacking o-ring selection on this Sunday night decided to put it back together without the o-ring. The bolts work smoother and quicker. Now I know they were in there for a reason. Most likely they were there to keep the parts from rubbing. Should I put an o-ring back on or leave it the way I have it? I will include some pics and arrow pointing to what I am talking about.

ok so I can't find any info, or the right o-ring and the inside of the bolt is chewed up a bit (don't know what from but probly caused the bolt to chew up the o-ring) so I guess I am going to leave it out.

Did the o-ring go in that groove? It probably allowed for things to move smoothly with little metal wear. Was the bolt purchased new or used. If things are chewed up then something probably got inside the bolt... either sand or grit got stuck in the oil and wore on the bolt same as when you get crud on the outside of the bolt and it wears on a barrel. And as to "chewed up" is it wear or damage? Otherwise, I'd try to clean the inside of the bolt up with some wet-dry sand paper... try to polish it, then keep it lubricated with some grease... Oh and put the o-ring back in. E

yep the o-ring went into the grove. the inside of one of the bolts had what looked like someone took a wire brush to the inside. but the others didn't have any issues besides it was very stiff. I tried working everything a bunch of times but to no avail. so I took out the o-rings and everything runs butter smooth. but I figure over time the parts will scrach each other up.

They will wear badly if the space between the inner and outer bolts is too great... which I'm thinking it might be. I would polish the inside and put the o-ring back in and just use good lubricant and you should be in good shape then. E

Has any one had a similar issue with Cooper-t bolts? Trying to polish the interior of the bolt would be difficult to do well. I will try other things first. Maybe finding some ball berrings or maybe just finding slightly smaller o-rings.
