Funny story for you guys...

I've had Kaspersky Internet Security for the past 2 years, I have the 2012 version now, I re-up every black friday. Well, I've been kind of bummed out because it really hasn't had to do anything, I haven't gotten any viruses or malicious software, just a bunch of banners is continually blocks. So there's this known virus going around that's hiding inside of a fake USPS email. I said, what the hell, -installed it. Anti-virus was blocking everything, sending it to quarantine, rolling back settings, I ran a few scans and suddenly my C: drive shuts down, the only thing working is my OS and anti-virus. All of my files on C: aren't showing up on my pc even though they're still on my C: drive. So I let Kaspersky finish what it's doing and restarted. Still missing... So I got out the windows disk and decided I didn't want to play Dr. anymore.

I probably should have had a recent backup, but i never do because it takes wayyy to ****ing long to make a backup. (Can't wait for the new Mac's in June and i'll get a time capsule for it) I've been wanting to wipe out the cobwebs on my pc anyway so a good reformat was what I did. Now it's smoooooth sailing. Did I mention I have 2 hdd's? All my keepers were on D: so i lost nothing.

Moral of the story: anti-virus software is not a cure-all.

the end.

I am pretty pleased with how everything turned out, but I have a question about one piece.

I have to ask - why in the world did you install a known virus? Just for the hell of it? Really?

Well that wasn't very bright. I've dealt with enough to know not to do that.
