New sterling owner

I just bought a cheep sterling I plan on doing some mods to it but first it looks like their are some things that need taking care of. The hammer sear is broken it still is attached but its cracked. I also need a new trigger. in theory their is nothing wrong with it but it looks like crap. I could also use some new springs. So the question to you guys is where can I get such parts? Maybe contact info for Arrow Precision

picture of the crack? I don' remember ever seeing what you are talking about.

From what I was told by AP the older sterlings aren't quite compatible with the AP ones. The AP ones have nicely machined grip frames, if its cast then it predates AP and won't fit quite right.

Main & valve springs: Buy a spyder spring kit & cut the main. Will end up with a matched main & valve spring.

If it's an AP Sterling, I can help you with a trigger and hammer assembly. PM me!

you can see the crack pretty clearly on here

It does not look like it was mis handled or anything it just looks like maybe the slot was not long enough from the manufacturer. when I first took it apart it had a giant burr at the bottom of the slot that the hammer rides in. I filed it smooth already in this picure but trust me it was big.

I already contacted arrow. I asked to get a hammer assembly, velocity adjuster and a main spring. they tried to come back with basically an entire gun minus the valve and the body. I told them I was just looking for the parts I was asking for since I was going to custom fabricate a lot of the other parts. like a pump arm spacer plate bolt back block valve, valve carrier, basically everything except the trigger frame hammer and body.

for Illustration

This is the picture james had when I bought it. Nothing against james I knew pretty much what I was getting into when I bought it. It did work when I aired it up, Its just the tinkerer in me I shot about 3 balls through it before I had it apart and then the machinist in me starts looking at what I can improve and also looking much closer at mechanical condition than most people would ever think to look. It does look very nice on the outside and the inside is rather good too just the hammer sear and that slot that was too short.

I don't remember for sure seeing the crack before or not. At any rate I wasn't mindful of it when I listed the gun. I apologize for that. The burr I've filed down before as well. I think getting a lighter set of matching springs (cut some spyder springs) would reduce the amount of hammer force needed to get the right amount of velocity and reduce the burr forming. It could also be some sort of timing issue, I had to time it myself when I got it as it wasn't functioning. I basically got the gun functioning and then never messed with it much after that.

this guys selling a spyder main spring kit for a couple of bucks
Misc parts. Tippmann, spyder, Pt enforcer

I believe there are some drawings of Sterling parts in my gallery. I can have a hammer latch up there by tonight, GMT+2.
