I like the idea of the O-ring. I prefer everything on my guns to be secure. With your barrels I usually wrap some teflon tape around the insert to keep it from moving or sliding out.

Nail polish was previously mentioned, but I prefer a method of securing the insert to be designed into the barrel.

FYI, rolling an insert on a flat surface will help you spot any high points. Use a mill bastard file to remove excess material. This will allow the insert to slip fit into a Stanchy bored barrel, sans o-ring.
ty's inserts tend to run at the high end of the OD tolerence, and high end on length (i have one thats .03" longer)

usually the lasering will kick up a burr and be the high spot, high grit, wetsand paper will do the trick as well

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

i would like to

but spending a week screwing around with it, to do it once in a blue moon doesnt sound like a good idea...

or worse, costing me a chunk of cash for tooling, and do it twice for $10

I have loved both barrels bored by your expertise. I wouldn't change a thing.

I've never had a barrel bored by you but from my standpoint if I were to send you a barrel, in my mind I already paid shipping and am paying for a service so why not spend the little extra cash. I've only used SP inserts and I know the ID and OD vary.

I think its an option that many of your first time customers would spring the extra $ for.

I know I'm in the minority on this issue but here's my opinion. If you can do 'em, and you're offering them at this relatively minor price increase, I'd want it on my barrels. Actually, and to be completely frank about it, I've got quite a few barrels that I'd like to have done but I've always been put off having them Freaked because of the lack of o-rings on this kind of custom job. Ever since I'd tried to use my WWA freak barrel without the o-rings (and suffered for it) I've always seen the need for them.

How about offering it in another way? Like putting the o-ring groove(s) in as standard but give everyone the ability to 'opt out'. I know it still amounts to the same thing but having 'options to drop the price' always sounds better than 'extras to increase the price'.

i hear ya, but if its gonna be $$$ to get the tooling, $$$ to test it and then only do em once in a blue moon..... i'll never make it up

i need more interest to justify buying all of it!

Isn't these brands listed the majority of your work? I will be sending a Phantom barrel to get done after my DSP is all finished. These o-rings obviously wouldn't apply to my barrel. I have only heard good about your service. IMO I think you would be better off offering something fresh and new instead of tweaking something that has already been proven to work perfect.

I say go ahead. All it would do is make the product better.

I even have a couple of old barrels I would give you to do test runs on. These are older ones that I don't use, and wouldn't care if they got messed up.

If you want me to send you the old barrels let me know. Both are 98 threaded. 1 is a SP Progressive barrel, and the other is a stock 98 barrel. I don't even have a 98 threaded marker anymore.
