Stock Barrel vs Lapco 16" STR8 SHOT

I just got my Lapco STR8 Shot barrel, I must say I'm quiet impressed on the quality and craftsmanship. I can't wait to test this thing out and compare the accuracy.

Keep in mind that the stock barrel is the SA-8 extended barrel. I was told the T8 barrel has a similar finish to the SA-8.

Barrel Lengths

Here is the Stock SA-8 barrel. Little more then 6.5" up to the ball feed hole.

16" Lapco STR8 Shot

Now measuring the actual effective length. This is from the end of the ball feed to the tip of the threads. More like 14" which is actually my desired length.

Side by side:

On the marker first stock SA-8 then 16" STR8 SHOT

Inside Finishes

SA-8 Stock - I'm amazed at the visible brushing. Is this done for a reason?

Lapco - So smooth that it's hard to take pictures of it

Sound Report

The Lapco barrel is a bit quiet and puts a deeper tone to the report. I took a video of the shots in my garage, but the echo pretty kills it. I'll try to get another video when I get a chance to shoot it outside.

Issues

I kept on getting ball rollouts. I took off the ball detents to take a look on what could be going on. Lapco on top, stock on the bottom:

I also had my first ever barrel break in the Lapco, but this could be because my paint is 3 months old. Keep in mind that the only shooting that I've done is in my garage. I've fired about 130 rounds through the SA-8 with the stock barrel without a break.

That's just screaming for a few more holes and a "raincover".

Just take the detent off the stock barrel and put it on the lapco. Will that not work?

Well I do think the SA-8 detents are a little harsh on the paint, I've seen some ball breaks in the Lapco. I'll see what kind of detents I get with the refurbed T8's

What's accuracy like over the stock SA-8 barrel?

Haven't really had the chance to play with it yet, now that it's warm I might resume playing .
