SL68-2 back cap

Hey guys, I'm getting an old SL68-2 in a trade, but it's missing the back cap. I called up Tippmann and they said that the back cap for the old ones are different than the new ones, and that they didn't have any. So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on where I could get one, other than trolling thru the B/S/T section.

yup the newer version IS not the same.
HOWEVER
the newer version can be modified to work with the older sl-68 ii

the newer sl's back cap is longer, meaning it goes int the body farthers.
the threading is the same.
so if you had a the ability you could cut down the newer backcap to the same size as the older back cap.
by eye the difference is ~.150

This is a link to the Gen 1 caps, you can also get Gen 2 caps.

Looks like the Gen 1 cap is longer.

If the threading is the same you could try a Gen2 cap, but depending on which is longer you will either over compress or under compress your spring.

Then again, you could try ordering a Gen2 cap and a Gen2 back spring and see if that works.

I called them 2 weeks ago and they didn't have any. If you actually click that link to the gen1 back cap it says that they don't have any. And as Tangus said, the new ones are longer.

the new one CAN be MADE to work with the gen 1 very easy with a mill,
i didn't get a chance to look at the spring lenghts but i'm pretty sure they are identical.
if you don't have a mill a fill and elbow grease will work aluminium is SOFT

Yeah, that's what I would do. Fortunately though, bacci had a few so I just bought one from him.
