| Endearingly quirky | M98 Cyclone Feed and R/T issues I'm having trouble getting the Cyclone and R/T to play together happily. I have a QEV on the Cyclone and a 'LP' large-diameter hose kit linking everything to the valve. However I have to screw the 'gas choke' velocity adjuster all the way in go get the R/T to function, and even w/ a heavy Maddmann spring and RVA, the velocity is still sub-200. The Cyclone works just fine regardless, squirts a ball in each time. But the R/T isn't happy until I unplug the Cyclone. Any ideas? |

That should increase the pressure going to both of them- otherwise, you could try adjusting the velocity screw on the side of the gun, since that is almost like a shutoff valve in the way it works- it adjusts velocity by changing how much air is entering the system- if you increase the velocity there, it should provide more wastegas for the systems to work with

| Seasoned Member | That and using big hoses also decreases the pressure in the whole system. So with lower pressure, fewer things will work right. I don't have experience with the cyclone on 98c's, but I do remember having troubles when I did the super R/T mod on my 98c and switching back to the original line fixed the problem. Also, I think the R/T uses more gas than the cyclone (I could be wrong), so at a lower op. pressure, the cyclone will still wok fine, but thats where you'll run into R/T troubles. I can guess this because on my A-5 R/T, when my tank is running low, my R/T poops out before my cyclone does. Good luck and let us know how things work out.

I asked how come I had to give up stuff and she didn't. She said she needed the makeup to look pretty for me. I told her that was what the beer was for. I don't think she's coming back... |

| I'm putting together a 98Custom scenario machine gun tripod, with a 3-lb CO2 tank, dual cyclones, dual Flatlines, and dual R/Ts (though I'm also considering a Firestorm crank...). I'd also be interested in your findings. I'll be sure to post mine as well... |

| Seasoned Member | Do you have a regulator installed, or is this unregulated CO2 / tank regulated HPA? I don't have experience with the cyclone on a 98, but I do have experience with the RT. On my old setup, I was able to keep the RT working by barely having the FVA screwed in past the inside of the powertube. That created just enough backpressure to make the RT happy. Of course, that also creates turbulence and reduces velocity... Never have been a fan of the 98 spring kits - I always felt the stock spring with almost flush FVA did a better job when tuned properly with a regulator. |
