DRUM'S BEST DAY OF PAINTBALL EVER!
Wannaplay, Legoland...
The MCB crowd was on one side. At my request, we took the high side with Drum griping all the way up the hill, "Thanks pal, I gotta walk up the hill. I'm not doing anything up there" typical Drum stuff.
We assembled at the top. Game starts. Ends in just a few minutes.
Here's what happened. Drum charges down the hill, clears the whole right side with his rifle, shoots a bunch of guys with his Tib, firing left handed, no less, gets 4 surrenders, grabs the flag, and runs back up the hill, hanging the flag. Wow!
Next game, we switch sides.
In a uncharacteristic co-ordination, the MCB crew attacked up the hill. Chappy, Chris, Pintbuster, and myself worked up on the right, Drum, Al, Jake and the others worked the center and left.
Drum does it again!
Charging up the hill, popping guys left and right, storms the upper wall and hands the flag off to some kid, saying, "There you go sonny, get some glory".
(Some embelishment, but the fact is that he played all day with just a bolt action rifle and his Tib-8 and did very well)
It was an excellent day to play. I had a lot of fun and look forward to our next game.
Anyone with a BretG's "Masterpiece Series" paintball-shooting-super-splatter rifle with wood can do that.

Just kidding, it sounds like Drum had a good day as did everyone else.

Great to hear it was a fun day.

Yeah, there is more than a little hyperbole, albeit generous and gratefully accepted.

Anyone who has experienced the "typical Drum stuff" must know that there was no way I was "charging" downhill (what ever could stop my resulting momentum?) and I certainly did not "run" uphill either. I did the old "MacArthur Walk" so casually and convincingly that one of my "victims", seeing me standing next to a ref discussing the whereabouts of the tape line, asked me if I was "alive or not", so I shot him. (Later, I explained to the kid that the best rule of thumb is to shoot first and ask questions later, especially if there is no evident BBD - I am sure he appreciated the advice)

I did have the significant advantage of BretG/Spydrmn brass on my shoulder, but I only shot out 2-3 with my bolt-action during these two "best" games, instead surrendering a slew of newbs with a very scary looking (I am sure) two handed grip on my Tib (which I learned from watching TJ Hooker) and bellowing surrender commands. I barely fired a shot all day with my Tib, but did hit a guy in some desperation fire after he got the drop on me and fired first.
Finally, I only "ran" the flag once. The second grab, I utilized some young legs nearby for the run.

Still, I am most honored by the creative description that BretG posted. I feel like Winston Churchill must have felt the first time he was ever "mentioned in dispatches".

What a great day with a great group of guys.

Looking forward to Nov. 11.

Cheers,
D.
