I suppose at some point you can just install a ball-bearing detent and be set for life. You would require 2 drill bits, tap, plug, spring, and the ball-bearing. Well, 2 ball bearings (plastic) since the VM68 would have tons of roll back.

However, if it does come to that, I think I'll just work up a whole new feed block with super duper dual detents lol. Maybe I'll make it warp feed while I'm at it...

To anyone waiting on Detents. Be patient. They are coming. Proteam will have them. In the mean time, the oring detent will work, but use the thicker orings, not tank orings. Smiley | |

I was thinking of making one from scratch. Basically drilling a 1/8" hole into the breach, then a slightly larger hole ALMOST to the breach, just enough so a ball bearing will stick out, but not enough to fall through. Then tap the outside of the hole to hold a plug. Drop in the ball, a spring, and the plug. Repeat for the rear detent. Like you said, this mod would have risks. While the drilling and tapping is not technically, placing them in the wrong spot would basically ruin the gun. Though, worst case scenerio is you remove the balls, plug the holes, and use the rubber detents.

So I took 2 tippmann detents and cut them. I angled them just right and cranked the screws down to hold them. I shot about 30 shots through it without a problem. I also smoothed the sharp corners on my delrin bolt where the ball feeds to help prevent chops and where the detent is to prevent the bolt from cutting it. I'll be using it this saturday, hopefully I have no problems. Part of my plan is to set up and chrono another gun to leave at respawn just in case, that will guarantee it stays working. Take that Murphy and your stupid law.

Damn you murphy, I hate you. Detents worked great, I put about 300 rounds through it no problem. Then I ran out of air because apparently my cup seal now leaks. It's always something. Happy with the detents though.
