Salad shooter was setup much like a Tribal / impulse, IIRC. It was a ram activated valve, spring return.

It was basically an early version of the "Spimmy" (Spyder/Intimidator) conversion that has become so popular among agglets on PbN these days. Once you hold the Saladshooter and look closely, you can really see how it works. The idea is to convert a Spyder body (or any spyder-esque stacked-tube blowback) into a more efficient Intimidator without having to shell out cash for those expensive Intimidator bodies and parts.

Generally you want a clamshell Timmy gripframe (pre2k4, very cheap on eBay) and stock board, and a Spyder body of your choice... I did mine with a 2k5 gripframe and the solid non-clamshell design made it pretty damn difficult. Also, I used an E99 Avante body that was easy to mill and fit the frame well.

I wouldn't approach another eVM project as a spimmy (although it would make one hell of a sleeper) because you'd need to manufacture your own gripframe, and there is no marker quite like a VM. I suppose you could mill the crap out of the body and add a Timmy frame, but I can't imagine that it would be pretty or balance well.

The seartripper eVM that I tried used 95% Radioshack parts, and used a clone of the "original" c98 eTrigger solenoid (anyone remember this? surfaced post-eBolt, and pre-eGrip?).

Here's a good discussion thread about the "Spimmification Process" from PbN that avoids the agg talk and gets into technical details without much excess blabber.
