It can be both desirable and rare but rarity does not equal desirability or value.

I have a older cocker from 92. It has been modified in such a way that it is now a very unique piece. It is a one of a kind, that would make it rare. I would be hard pressed to get $75 on here for it. It is rare? absolutely Is it desirable? Probably only by me. Does it have value? Not really.

If the owner is interested in selling it for $700 put it up for sale at that price. Maybe someone will want it bad enough to pay that price.

You asked this group about a value and they gave you an answer. Just because you do not agree with them does not make them wrong.

The few ptp microcockers that I've seen for sale over the past year have been listed at $275-$325, and they didn't move quickly. $700 cockers tend to be belsales evolutions, bps twisters, rippers, planet eclipse nexus sigs, and a few other high end private label cockers.

There are collectors who will drop $700 on a mech cocker, but that ptp might not be first on the list. However, there may also be that one collector with the money looking for that exact model and color.

The true market value won't be known until the owner tests the waters. Put it on ebay with a $700 reserve and see what offers come in.

Just a little update - A guy in our area saw the gun in the shop during the week, asked about it, and handed the owners wife a check for 700.00 today. He was told when the check clears, feel free to come get his new micrococker.
