cant figure it out, low velocity

well, i have done everything i can think of, but for some reason, i cant get my bolt action cocker up to speed. it was running beautifully until i went to Fulda Gap back in November, when i got there, i couldnt get it above 180fps. i rebuilt it, top to bottom. the reg is holding at 350psi, no matter what valve/hammer spring combo i tried made a difference.

i thought that maybe there was something up with the valve, also a good excuse for an upgrade, so i got a palmer's low turbulence valve. made no difference at all. i am starting to think that maybe there is something with the air line between the reg and body or something with the body.... im bummed out though, ive been working on this marker since first strikes first came out, many revisions and redesigns later, it was my favorite marker, and now it is dead....

honestly, i would like to get a better body for it, something that isnt hacked up. anyone got the ability to help make a custom body for me?

any thoughts on what might be the issue? anyone have a problem like this? of all the cockers i have worked on and used, i have never come across one that i couldnt get working. i am baffled.

you have to adjust your reg pressure, 350 seems really high for a palmers palmers valve.

i want too say it was rated for 300-400 psi, i might be wrong, ill double check. it was the same with the standard wgp valve, though.

Have you tried a different tank? I had a similar problem when my tank reg stopped working and was pushing 1000psi+ into the HPR. However, that problem would probably be apparent on the gauge (since you said your HPR is rock solid at 350). Might be worth a shot though.

Besides that, it's possible a fitting is screwed in too much or is clogged with debris. I suppose it's also possible debris could clog the hole between the vertical ASA and body.

not that tank, im pretty confident in that, unless all three tanks i have are bad only when used with that marker.

as for the vert asa, it doesnt have one, it is a mini'ed body and the air line goes into the front of the body. the reg is mounted to the side of the marker.

here is a pic of the marker from last year, i think. this was an older set up i had for it, but mechanically, it was the same. the air line is actually steel brake line since it was i had readily available at the time. i originally had a palmer's stabilizer on it, but it started creeping up to tank pressure after about 5 minutes. i put the cp reg on it and never had reg creep again. it worked for the next year after the reg swap, but then as soon as i got to Fulda Gap, it failed, again. it always breaks at Fulda for some reason.....

I think I see the problem. Those SP on/offs were designed to be used with HP tanks. The holes which the air flows through in those valves are tiny, so only high pressure air will provide enough volume to power the gun. Try running the regulator directly into the gun. I bet that will fix the problem.

it wasnt a problem for the 9 months or so i was running it like that before it crapped on me in November. ill try switching it out though. i will need to rebuild the marker again, i kinda took it completely apart to inspect the internals and havent put it back together yet, lol.

check the bolt and make sure its not upside down if it's an older bolt with a single hole in it. next I'd check the valve to make sure it hasn't turn around and is blocking the air flow.
