So i got my sniper half-blocked. Played with it a bunch of time and am not too happy. It's got a lot more kick now. It's a 2k body, rat valve, stock valve spring, blue hammer spring. Haven't changed the in-line reg pressure from when it was a full cocker body. My guess is that a half-block shouldn't have much more kick than a full body cocker if it's set up right. First thing I'll do is sweet spot my reg again. My question is spring set up. Does any one have any suggestions what combo to start with?

| Seasoned Member | You might want to check your LPR pressure, see if you can get it down a bit, that should take away what you described as kick. Kick on a cocker consists of the weight of the moving mass (backblock, bolt, bolt pin, pump rod) and the pressure it's being moved back and forth (ram speed & pressure). Reduce any of those factors and you will have less kick. I have no clue if timing has anything to do with kick (not that I know of) but I am fairly sure someone smarter than me will share their knowledge right under my post The overall feel of the marker does however change due to halfblocking it, that might cause the feel of kick while there actually isn't much kick at all.

It's a lot lighter now so i'd imagine some kick. My guess would be that everything should be adjusted downward, lower inline pressure, and different springs, just lower the operating pressure of the gun as much as you can. I'd say it's gonna be a more effecient design, but with a pump effeciency doesn't really come into question as far as body mass. You're still the one doin the pumping. don't quote me on internal springs though, that's just a suggestion, I really only know my trigger springs.

so, i tuned the gun as much as i could (sweet-spotted the reg, etc.) still getting significant blow-back. i gues it's just because the half-block bolt doesn't have o-rings and there is some play when it sits in the body. i've never had this issue with my full-body cocker. not liking it at all. any one know where i can find a half-block bolt with o-rings?

It does make sense that you have more kick - the back block has inertia. So, as the bolt vents air - pushing back. The back block used to be there to help stop that movement - now you're moving a lighter bolt, and sled instead - so it wants to just more. I personally don't like too heavy a return spring - so I just hold my pump arm forward. I just want the spring to keep the gun from double feeding while I run.
