Running a cocker on CO2?

I'm about to start working on converting my second PB Superbolt over to a pump. In my effort to keep this a SMALL package I was thinking of doing away with the regulator and just run CO2 straight into the valve area. But this will obviously run at a higher than usual pressure.

So can any of you gurus tell me what I need to do to keep the velocity in check? Or will the extra pressure push the valve closed quicker so in the end it'll all come out about the same and adjustable within the range of the stock hammer spring?

When it's done it'll sort of look like a cheapie blowback with bottom line. But it'll be small and light and that's what I'm after.

I'll be powering it with a 9oz CO2 bottle.

You're gonna wanna try and get a pre-2k stock valve. Those ones are set up for higher pressure, and you may even want a de-volumizer if the front chamber is post-2k spec.

Can you describe what the difference is in terms of size between the two? I'm guessing that the seat to pin diameter ratio is different to provide a similar return force from the gas pressure?

And autococker parts are getting scarce. Any suggestions on who may have a valve like this.

Or would one of the fine MCB readers happen to have one they can part with?

I'm sure you could find the proper specification valve among the many random parts sales. I'm sure Bacci has one or two. I don't know the exact difference, I know that a post-2k valve is ported considerably larger than a pre-2k, which allows it to run down to 350 psi as opposed to 650+

Unless you're running a 12gram changer, why not keep the vertical reg on? It wouldn't make it that much bigger.

I run my converted autococker on CO2 and a 10oz tank and it works fine. It's a 2k3 with a Rat valve and STO vertical reg. The gun runs very low pressure and it's the best shooting gun I own.

Well, I hopeing to cut down the size and weight and end up with a different sort of look (I've got something secret in mind). But if I have to then I have to. I'm going to be opening it up soon and I'll compare it to the non-reged CO2 valve from the Piranha.

You'll be fine no matter if its pre or post 2k...I used to have a 2004 cocker that I ran on a 20 oz. I also had a 2000 sniper that i ran off of a 3.5oz The Cocker/co2 hype was created by uneducated little fools when the LP craze came about. You wont be able to reliably run the cocker at Low pressure with co2 but who cares.

As far as a sniper goes you'll definatly be fine as long as you dont plan to run the gun off of 12 grams. You will the have to start worrying about devolumizing and springing.

What pump kits work for the PB superbolt? In my christmas excitement I told my girlfriend to get me a 2k pump kit without thinking. Now looking back at it I realize that the ASA is on the frontblock.

Worst comes to worst I suppose I could just put it all back together and get a new body to go with the pump kit.
