Mod 85?

This was posted in the Portland Craigslist. I'm not interested in buying it, I just wanted to know what was up with it. To me, it doesn't even seem like it's a paintball gun.

Anyone know anything about this gun?
Collectible Paintball Gun

They are paintball guns, .43 cal I believe. There's one in the BST right now :

They tend to shoot hot however, and safety is always a concern. I think there's a video of Weltman being shot by one...if someone can find it.

Edit : found the video

For a collector, they are fairly desirable. They had a pretty menacing reputation back when they first came out. 1989 or so? They were never designed for paintball, for nearly every field had a player or 2 that owned them. (You know, those rich kids that had to every every latest thing).

But for a player, they are useless. No modern field would allow them, and ammo is next to impossible to find. And much of that no longer works from sitting around for 20 years. There was also a reload kit, but thats also tough to find. There are lots of threads in the airsmith section talking about converting to a modern blowgun caliber, etc.

Weltman is a nut.... always fun to run alongside him though during games though.

See the five scars across my back from this thing, given to me in 1989 at Wolf's Lair.

OUCH!

Hey thanks guys. I just realized I should have checked out VintageRex for it, but then I wouldn't have gotten such an awesome vid link with it.

Definitely not going to be getting one of those anytime soon.

lol, I remember playing against guys armed with them . . . the trick was to just stay out of their range and pour .68cal fire down on them

they were easier to deal with than SMG-60's . . . especially since with the ammo cost difference they were generally not likely to be spraying and praying back at you
