Most 928s are automatics, it is a grand touring car so more emphasis was put on comfort and style than pure performance. There are manuals out there but they are certainly less common.

And whoever buys it better know what they're doing mechanically. These are maintanance hogs, and very expensive to fix. I've heard of people swapping out the engine with a Chevy 350 for that very reason.

A lot of manual transmissions are like that. It's not exclusive to Porsche.

VW's typically have that shifting arrangement as well.

Actully Porshe was first. Then during WW1 Hilter asked (forced) Ferdinand Porshe to design the Peoples Car aka the Volkswagan. Porshe was tried and cleared as a War Criminal over the deal. Just a little history lesson.

WW1? No my friend it was WW2, symmantics I know. But porsche didn't actually come out with any sports cars until 1939, in 1931 when the company was founded they wanted to create "Auto für Jedermann" or Cars for Everyman. This being the philosphy they were creating the Peoples Car or "Volkswagen." The first actual sports car didn't come out until 1939 with the Prosche 64 a year after the KdF Wagen was produced.

I like how this thread is going. I'm a Porsche fanatic.

It's a shame I'm 15...
