I've used the powder with some success. Liquid is just a little less harsh. I don't know but another thing to look into is brasso. Works well with oxidation on copper pipes. Maybe you will have some luck using it. Years ago when I was a probationary Firefighter we all got punished and had to brasso the copper pipes under the sink in the bathroom. There was years of crap built up on them. They now look like new lol
