Spool Spring?

I'm stumped. My Nova did not have this spring inside it when I took the marker apart. i would have noticed something go flying if i did launch the spring across the room. but then I goto ZDSPB's page and there's no spring in those images.

Can anyone clear this up?

I thought the spool blows back when it gets pressurized then depressurized, blows forward after the trigger resets to forward position.

Here's the spring i speak of: https://youtu.be/JYhRgEIKdlc?t=9m55s

here's the Nova tech page: Nova 700 tech [ZDSPB Tech]

Well I just reviewed the other nova assembly videos that were on ytube for a while and there's a spring in there. i don't know where it is if there was one in there when i took it apart. i didn't see one nor did I hear anything hit the floor. I guess now I need a picture of the spring next to a ruler to give an idea what size spring i'm looking for

Not all novas had the spool spring. One of the problems they have is that there were a lot of changes in the short time they were made.

c16-035-032 from Jones Spring is what I use.

Oh my god I made myself crazy over that damn spring! Thank goodness not all of them had the spring.

I don't understand the purpose of the spring in a spool anyways, there's no hammer or any mechanism that opens another valve other than when you pull the trigger which opens the clippard valve inside the rail. that air from the clippard from my understanding pushes back the spool to let air through and when release the trigger, the spool goes into forward position again. so why the spring? that's my theory

Whew! Blood pressures back to normal lol
