Safe underbore

How much smaller can you go than the bore size of the paint without breaking?

I, personally, don't go more than 0.005 so, for example, if the paint was .685 my insert would be .680 or so. However, 0.003 is what I usually prefer (just a slight underbore).

I think you can go about .007 without breaks. I usually go one size under the size where I get no rollouts.

I should have mentioned I don't shoot a pump, I'm just looking to get the most efficiency out of 68/4500 or 77/4500. Especially when I mostly get 3k fills

semi is way different you are normally putting alot more paint through the same bore than most pump players. i would run the same size as the paint if not 1 size up. under boring with semi's usually have problems had a buddy try it a couple times and got a ton of barrel breaks. its not worth the hassle of having to clean your barrel if you don't need to.

Agreed. I use the smallest bore that paint will go through with only a tiny push.

Safe underbore

So same bore if not 1 size bigger? Does anyone know the bore size of the barrel that the apex 2 tip comes on if you buy it from empire? I'm having it bored and don't want to use a bigger insert than the original bore size

The stock Apex barrel is probably somewhere in the 690-692 range. It's probably safe to assume that modern paint is averaging in at about 685 (although most paint around here usually bores in at 683 or smaller).

Thanks. I think the infinity I shot this summer was boring out around .682-.683, the field I play at is getting graffiti next summer so it'll probably be different

'Same' will get you inconstant velocities. I'd go .002 under your smallest paint. Better to have various degrees of squish as opposed to some with squish, some fit perfect, and others have air escape around them. Punkworks said .005 is about as low as they'd suggest going, period.
