shipping a compressed air tank

I'm shipping a compressed air tank and I would like to know if you can ship it through the USPS. The tank is empty.

That I'm not so sure of. I've never done it, nor when I buy one have I had one removed.

When I've shipped a tank I never removed the reg, with ups. Also tanks I have received in the mail, usps, they had the regs on them.

I've never had any problems. I always bleed them completely though(like, push the pin and nothing comes out, not even a little hiss).

Yep I have shipped and received several via USPS, emptied w/ reg on. You want to protect the reg though, as well as you can.

I believe you only have to remove the reg for commercial flights in or out of the US...

Ooh, definitely protect the reg as much as possible. Last tank I shipped USPS wrecked the reg, cause they are pretty heavy on the end of a light CF tank.

It will go through a box pretty easy. You dont have to take off the reg but wrap securely for sure, like others said
