Funny little stingray

I just snagged a Stingray 1 in pretty good shape of ebay this week. You know, the original one with the long barrel and shroud. Sealed up perfectly and was in good shape overall. I gave it a quick clean and lube plus a new chinese knockoff starfire bolt then took it to the field today. Funny, it was older than 75% of all the players today. So 8 of 12 or so. Lol. One game on a hyperpipe field, I got 3 of 5 elims. Overall, I had probably 8 to 10 elims all day. Shot about 400 rounds through it, and the 7oz tank was still going.

I like it a lot! It felt nice to just go kachunka kachunka up and down the fields all day It shoots surprisingly well for such a lowly gun.

Yup. I hate stocks. It feels weird not being up close to a paintball gun, but I did surprisingly well with it. I may track down a 3.5oz tank or two or just man up and run it this way. Not really interested in a commando kit. Always wondered how they mounted to the grip though.

As I always say, Stingrays are underrated. They work just fine, but it's the cool thing to hate on BE (though that seems to be going away since they've been gone awhile now).

You can easily adapt an A5 bottomline ASA to a Stingray.

If you're referring to the Pro-Team products model, they had a little leaf-shaped blade that extended upwards into the grip about an inch or so that when turned cut into the plastic and wedged itself in place.

I had one that I really liked.
It always felt very secure.
Still can't believe I paid $50 for mine, but people are dumb when they're 14.

My issue with the stingray was that trigger. It wore through my gloves and gave me blisters.

The Inflicted - Thanks for the info. There are no holes anywhere in the frame for the bottomlines, so thats what had me curious. Good to know they are secure.

El Super Beasto - I thought about smoothing out the edges on the trigger, but it felt good to me enough so that I won't bother with it. Was yours a Stingray 1 or 2? Possibly more budget cuts on the 2's?

HurtCow - I will keep that in mind. After playing with it the other day, I agree completely. Although cheap, these do hold their own pretty well.

There is a purple Stingray 2 on ebay right now, with the matching hopper. I almost pulled the trigger because I never saw a purple one. Then I realized I do not need 2 stingrays. I got the one I wanted.

I remember all the cool (albeit cheap) mods that people came out with for the stingrays and tigersharks. There were definitely some cool ones out there.

I did a trigger job on mine using sections of 5/8" flatbar and a couple of grub screws. Got the trigger pull down to about 3/8" with a double trigger shoe.

Sid's trigger job is a good way to do this.
It made a big difference on my gun.
Stingray FAQ

Something really easy you can do that makes a difference is to simply get some rubber bands and wrap them around the trigger to cushion it.
