2017 Updates

News for the past few weeks...

The important stuff... I have finally finished with the foolishness surrounding the root canal. I am officially worth more as parts than a complete person I have a gold tooth to go with the "Brass Beard" persona. I still have a bunch of other work which needs to be done in my mouth, but that will take place over the summer. Something is truly messed up inside my elbow. I am in a fair amount of pain no matter what I do/don't do. The Toradol/Ketrolac I normally use for this type of inflammatory pain is not working well, so I am worried I may have finally really meesed something in there up beyond the point of "ignore it and it will heal".

We have been helping some long time friends through a sh!t storm... Her mother passed recently, his mother is stage 4 cancer, and his father is not doing well. His parents had their dog put down very recently due to a degenerative problem. The memorial for her mother is in a few weeks, so we have been helping them get sorted out after a rush move back in October and November.

Another friend is getting divorced from his wife of only a few months. He has to move a load of heavy equipment about 700 miles.

Now on to the much better news, which most of you all won't care about... many thanks to The Flounder who showed up on Sunday with tools and basically did most of the spreading of the mulch around the house. During this time period, I seem to have misplaced a lathe If anyone has a photo of what happened to it, please post it here. The good news is the misplaced lathe has made room to access the machines more easily. I am left with one manual mill, two CNC mills, one manual lathe, one CNC lathe, and enough floor space to move about the shop. Next acquisition will have to be some sort of temporary work bench.

None of this is an excuse for the work which is late, simply an explanation of the insanity which is swirling around me, right now.

On another positive note... Stuffy has been helping around the shop 2 or 3 nights a week. His help is greatly appreciated.

The going price depends on the market... my value is expensive per pound others maybe $60 per hour and still others believe I am priceless or is that worthless

Got to look out for family and friends.

More updates...

Had an excellent weekend... Played on Saturday. Entered the drawing the BPS Twister, which Team Defiance was holding... Like always, I didn't win (Didn't expect to... Not how my life works ) The weather was great, and the play was really good. Played the whole day with a pump versus semis/a few other pump players. All in all a great day.

Delivered a couple of custom inserts to KingOfMonkeys at the field and worked in the shop Saturday night.

Sunday, helped a friend with computers issues and then spent a bunch of time in the shop. The back log is slowly disappearing.

The process for Freak boring SL68 barrels has been locked down, and I believe it can be repeated. I ended up making one test SL68 barrel, and two customer ones, while tweaking the process, so I will be putting the test unit up for sale sometime soon.

Updates for the last two days...

Got the light mounted over the lathe, finally. Those LED shop lights put out a *LOT* of light, making easier to see the stuff I am making.

Finished boring a couple of SL68 barrels.

I am waiting on 1/16" ball end mills to arrive on Friday, to finish the project owed to DarkNite667.

Got the octagonal A5 barrels for The Greek's Goblin shipped out.

Stuffy stripped down Saucey's PGP build so a new barrel/feed tube could be resoldered to the valve tube. Turned out the valve tube is bent out of round, so Stuffy got a quick lesson in how to return damaged tubes to cylinders. I will have to silver solder a patch on the valve tube, and redrill the air transfer port, as it is a bit of a mess.

The plan for tonight... Mount another shelf on the wall, and place some of the small bin style organizers on it, to keep the taps, and the small end mills.
