Ask me about my Join Date: Oct 2009 | Mag Fed Mechanical Dump valve marker idea
Just a preliminary idea so far, nothing concrete or designed besides a quick MS pain drawing. What I'm thinking is a mechanical magfed marker that's extremely compact and lightweight. The idea would be to put a TechT L7 bolt for a G3/G4 in a custom body, use the new spyder mags (prob) or something similar to mag feed it. Reg in the grip, maybe rap4 AG1 or AKA 2 Liter, something compact and somewhat thin so the grips aren't huge. Anyhow here's a picture of the concept: IF anyone has ideas on if it would be feasable or just stupid let me know. Barbs are color coded to show airflow. Trigger's drawn small, but woudl be fined in actual manufacturing drawings. Looks like it'd be <8" for the body, so about 22" with a barrel ![]()

Biggest issue is dwell control - unless I am missing something with the plumbing diagram and you are trying to isolate the dump chamber with a secondary valve. Also, the MSV-2 is only available as a normally closed valve - a blow forward typically needs a normally open unless it uses a secondary firing component like the NT or Etha. |

The MSV-2 is what is in your Ion Mech kits, correct? How about mounting it in a normaly open position, where a levered arm keeps the valve open. The trigger would then be used to push the other side of the lever, releasing the valve? I apologize if it seems I am butting in. |

Nope, those are SMAV-3 valves. The MSV-2 is made by Fabco, the SMAV-3 is made by Clipppard. The names are way too close, I've had the same confusion before. The MSV-2 is an odd valve. There is no threaded exhaust port to use, it simply vents to atmosphere through a small hole in the side. It also leaks slightly as long as the lever is held down. Not just a freak thing I've encountered - they all do it, and it is intentional. They were designed for automation purposes in an industrial environment where the little leak is not as big a deal as it is for us with limited air capacities. |

I debated whether to use a smav-3 or the msv-2 and figured the smav-3 would work better; just never changed the picture.

I had planned on making new shells for the TPX that looked like this, but lost interest fairly quickly as I have no machine with which to make them. But this looks pretty cool, and if it ever made it to production, I'd probably have to have one ![]()
