Automag patent.....

The other night while searching patents for another post I stumbled across the patent for the automag.

It was submitted in march of 92. This means in march, the patent for the automag is expired.

I wonder if this means we will see some wanna be mags hitting the scene??

Patent # US005280778

This is the first design. For instance the RT mag which was filed in oct of 99 is still valid until oct 2018. there are also some other patents that are still valid, like the z grip which Mr. Kotsiopoulos submitted in 98.

Mr Kaye's last name is not really Kaye. It is Kotsiopoulos which originally made finding his patents difficult lol. I'd start calling him, Tom "k" as well.

But as for the original designs, that are not using any of the other patented features, I wonder if we will see clones...

I don't see it happening with many modern systems being more efficient and faster via elecotronics. Qualifier(faster w/out rt which is not allowable at some places.)

Exactly. And AGD doesn't sell very many new units. Why would anybody copy it and try to sell it when the original doesn't even sell very well.

My understanding was that AGD was already pretty liberal in letting other people use the 'mag patent for their own things.

The Axe is basically what an MQ valved Automag would be.
