VERY Short Barrels?

Back in the day when I had 5 Spyders, I made a really compact one and named it the Bullpup. It had a tiny tank (2.5 oz?), a tiny hopper, and I chopped the barrel to about 5 inches. That marker never shot great before the mod, after, it didn't kill the accuracy, but it did get a little worse, and a lot louder.

I just noticed Deadlywind makes a 6 inch Null and Fibur barrels and it's got me pining to do something similar now.

Has anyone used one of the 6 inch Deadlywind barrels, or any 6 inch barrel that wasn't made with a hacksaw for that matter? Was it loud? Terribly inaccurate?

Loud? A little, depends on if it's ported at all.
Accurate? About the same, slightly less. I think that people claiming short barrels are "inaccurate" just don't point well with them.
Fun and cool factor? Through the roof.
You will lose a bit of air efficiency.

I've got a Freak back with a Doc's Machine 1 1/2 tip,about 6" total
It's definitely louder than using a 10" barrel on the same Ion,sounds more like an Ego than a spoolie
As far as accuracy it seems to be about the same as a 10" Freak setup.Even shooting First Strikes its as good as a non rifled barrel at standard paintball range

Word, I was thinking the Null barrel would be a little more quiet since there's no insert (and hopefully more than 1 and 1/2 inches of porting). Probably not as accurate or efficient as the freak, but hey, it's not the size of your barrel, it's how you use it.

It should be alot quieter being CF and vented
Kinda like the noise after shooting whisper quiet Ions and other spoolies for years

My AT10 has a 6" barrel. It shoots marginally larger groups than the 14” barrel, but not significantly. It is loud, but so is anything on an ATS. I absolutely love playing with it.

Related, I want to hear about REALLY short barrels! For instance, has anyone tried shooting through an iFit/Python sizer without a barrel? Is it even possible to achieve usable velocity by underboring at that length? The closest test cases I've heard are all from the Goblin launchers, but I think their finicky valve system is skewing any info I find.

Funny you should mention that...
A5/X7 iFit kit with the 3" A5 barrel(shown below) is usable

As are the 5" FLASC Core barrels with APEX or the micro bore with other "muzzle breaks"

Depending on paint is how great a velocity without chamber breaks you can achieve but the fps paint dependent I was able to range from 250-285 with testing and eventually without issue.

Graffitti forcefeed through the boxmag with the 5" core barrel and an original APEX tip I was able to achieve 265 +/- with the APEX at 0 clicks this gave me the best results for what I was trying to achieve overall.

TL;DR hole size controls how fast balls get spent

They made a very short front to go with that ifit / python kit.

I have a 6" Null on my Mag pistol, and it has no porting at all. I took it to the target range, and it really didn't seem particularly loud. Ridiculously light, though!
