C02 on a CP reg

I don't have an HPA filling station super close to my house, how detrimental would it be to run a mech autococker with a CP reg on a 12gram c02 cartridge just for plinking and testing in my backyard?

If you're not shooting fast it should be okay. Most regs that say they're not for use for co2 are referring to liquid co2. Shoot slow and keep the gun tilted upwards and you'll probably be fine.

I would say to make sure your bottle stays upright, and use a remote line. Shoot slow. If you freeze that reg it won't be a huge deal. Parts for all gens are commonly available and your LPR should hold for a moment...even if not it will only blow lines.
