I swear if I "won" all the stuff I got in emails/texts nothing in this world would hold much value. Id have new timeshares in the Bahamas filled with ipads and new laptops.
Ive entered too many of those when I was younger but have kept the same email address. My spam folder gets dumped once every couple of days. I do peek in there every now and then to see what ive "won".

Got the same exact text today. Also had a pretty elaborate scam target me a few months back. Someone had hacked my friends e-mail and claimed they were on a trip to another country but had been robbed of everything they owned. Then they started asking for about $150 to help out. I was immediately suspicious since they still had access to a computer. So I called and it turned out my friend was on vacation but they hadn't been robbed.

If you really "win" something, you will get an actual piece of registered mail, or a personal visit from Ed McMahon.
Ed has assumed room temperture.

Its scary stuff.
Just last week I got a text that looked like it was from my local bank. It said I needed to call the bank to verify that the purchases were legit. It provided a number to call.... but I called my banks ACTUAL number, and they told me what I already suspected. Someone sent a mass text to all the cells in the area, knowing a good percentage would have accounts at that bank, looking to phish some details.

I say its scary because its not the usual nigerian-type scams, or fake lotteries. We all know to ignore suspect emails, even from friends (I get hacked emails all the time). But texts are trickier since its harder to get the trace information, and its common to sign up for text alerts.
