HUGE Fire Extinguisher Recall

Recall date was Nov 2, 2017 and haven't heard much about it.

I own some, so posting the info here:

https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2017/ki...-discharge-and

https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/20..._ReadMore_Pos4

Full list above.

Quote:
Consumers should immediately contact Kidde to request a free replacement fire extinguisher and for instructions on returning the recalled unit, as it may not work properly in a fire emergency

This was a pretty big deal for us, as a company, due to the fact that we sell and service extinguishers. Lukily, of the Kidde brand ones we service they are all metal handle and not effected.

They probably saved, I dunno, maybe 50 cents apiece on the plastic handles? It's a significantly less attractive business case post-recall, I guarantee

It took me about a minute to fill out the form and get replacements. It said that instructions for what to do with the olds one would be with the replacements.

I’m half hoping that it says to spray them wildly into the air to empty them then throw the empty cylinder away.

The numbers on the two Kidde models I have are B73136210 and B11878441.
i cannot tell if they are included in the recall. The information on their site is unclear to me.

Can someone help me out?

If they have plastic handles then find the model. For mine it was in the bottom right corner of the label just under the serial number.

I've been trying to get my employer to get the fire extinguisher in my office recertified for years. It looks like this recall just solved my problem.
