Lest we Forget.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

To those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, we stand tall and carry on, no matter the (insignificant) troubles in your daily lives.

Never forgotten, thank you to all that have fallen and all that still stand.

Spent my time today at Vimy Ridge and Beaumont-Hamel

Talk about humbling and powerful. The craters in the ground are still unmistakable 100 years later...

I DO remember them.

A bit late here but I always attend ceremonies at the cenotaphs, this year since my step son has been posted to On. I attended the ceremonies in Warkworth where he was on parade.
Stil I envy your trip, I really need to get to Europe and visit the battlefields and cemeteries.

My brother got permission to come down from Petawawa for the day. Not many currently serving guys at the ceremony so he was popular with the old veterans. Plus he got to skip the big parade in Ottawa. He's not a fan of parading.
