Recommend a good sci-fi for me

So, I'm running out of books to read, figured I would see what you meat sacks would point me towards. Here is the thing, I am somewhat picky about my sci fi books.

Above all else, they must keep the action rolling. I would much rather let my imagination fill in the blanks of a scene rather than spend most of a chapter reading about the details of what is in a scene

I like hard sci fi and typically, but not always, space operas/thrillers

Here is a list of some of my most enjoyed books

1) enders game, pretty easily my favorite. I am NOT a fan of the 3 books that are sequels (the ones with ender in them) however the complete shadow series and the 5(will be 6) prequils are fantastic

2) unincorporated man and sequels, love them, good action, interesting concepts, space battles

3) most later Heinlein books, not a huge fan of since of his early stuff

4) ready player one, just finished it, beginning was a little slow but it was good overall

5) privateer tales, good, not great but very good at keeping the action going

I'm trying to avoid anything brand new so there is a chance I can get it from the library.

What do you got for me

Have you looked into any of the Warhammer 40K series of books? There are some pretty good ones in there. I'm currently working my way through the Horus Heresy series, but there are little pick-up and read ones available.

If you're into Cyberpunk (Blade Runner), you should check out Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, the book Blade Runner is based on. It's short but it's really good.

Have you read the Bobiverse? If not, there's your series.

Closer to home, The Martian and Artemis are good, too.

You should check out Frank Herbert's Dune.
The Seventh Son by Orson Scott Card is also excellent and you already know you like his writing.

Subbing because your taste in books is similar to mine.

If you liked Orson Scott Card for his writing style, you could also try the Alvin Maker series, which starts with Seventh Son (definitely not sci fi though).

Also, an older sci-fi similar to Ready Player One is Snow Crash.

And I've been meaning to pick up Halo: The Fall of Reach, heard good things about it.

Not a fan of dune, tried it, it's just too slow for me, I end up feeling asleep

Thanks for the suggestions, I guess I have some books to check out from the library

I've tried a few other things from OSC. Tried to get into the gate series but same as some other stuff, the pacing was just too slow for my taste, the whole first book felt like it was just a set up for the actual plot to start

If you have not tried the unincorporated man you should give that one a whirl
